BU grant

is the bu grant renewable?

Yes, it comes back every year assuming your GPA stays above 3.2 or something and your financial need doesn't change too much.

You must have AT LEAST a cumulative 2.3 GPA at the end of each academic year to renew a BU Grant.

thats...sweet...is the BU grant 30,000 for everyone?

Boston University Grant
Boston University gift aid provided to students who meet all eligibility criteria for need-based financial aid. Renewal criteria: students must satisfactorily complete at least 12 credits each semester, achieve a minimum grade point average of 2.30 for the prior academic year, and meet all other eligibility criteria.

Boston University Grant may be replaced at any time by University funds from endowed sources to meet fund restriction requirements.

i think you are just very lucky :) most people don't get that generous of grant. congrats :0)

Whoa, $30,000??? Mine is $10,300 per year

I got a $20,500 deal.

i only got 13,500 between two grants and its going to cost me like 26 thousand a year to go. I'm going to haggle with fin aid and see if I can get more because I'd really love to go to BU.

Someone up in the sky must really like me... I got a BU Grant for $33,700.

wow. all your grants are so high. i only got $9000. does that mean if my parents waste more money they'll give me more in grants?

How in the world did you get such a high grant? What was your EFC?

well i got 30,200 and my EFC was 0....plus 5,500 in a couple of other grants then 7k in loans and work study

I received the 30,000 grant and then a few other grants as well to cover the whole thing :).

so these grants have nothing to do with academics and stuff? cuz it sounds like it does.

Well those of us with merit scholarships have to maintain a 3.2 or higher so be happy yours isn't that high since first semeser can be challenging.

Yea I think it does have to do with your grades in H.S. Some of my friends who got into BU as well had like 0 efc or close (<10k). They recieved less than 10k in aid, I believe around 5-7k. I have a 33k efc and they gave me 13k grant. My grades are higher than my friends' as well. When I spoke with a finaid advisor at Spring Open House, she said I already got the max and mentioned about how my grades are high.

For those of you who had over 20K in grants... what were your gpa/test scores? thanks.

gpa - 3.915
sat:
math - 730
reading - 610
writing - 700

I think it must have to do with family financial situation (and family situation in general) and a demonstration of overcoming almost insurmountable odds... just a guess, however.

My GPA was a 4.303 weighted or a 4.0 uw... I am also valedictorian of about 260 kids in a podunk school with a bunch of redneck idiots...
My SATs werent great..
math- 720
reading- 640
writing- 680
I did much better on the ACT, a 32, and I got 12/12 on the writing section...
I got 30500 in the BU grant, and my parent's efc was like 8000... the financial aid advisors at the open house said that the finaid office gives out more in aid/grants to those of higher academic merit so Im guessing thats why I got as much as I did.. .I just know that if I hadn't gotten that grant, I wouldn't be going to BU so I am SOOOOO greatful!
