Bu, Gw, Nyu...?

Gw, Nyu, Bu, …?

Hello friends… I want to study International Affairs/Politics/Relations and Spanish next year. I’ve received all my acceptances and was wondering if any of you kids had an opinion on which of these options is the best (for what I want to study). And why.

So, I’m trying to decide between:

GWU Elliot + Honors program + Half-tuition scholarship

Boston U + Honors program + Half-tuition scholarship

NYU, no honors, no scholarship

Dickinson College + Honors + Half-tuition scholarship

And that’s my order of preference right now.

Thanks <3

I know GW is amazing for politics, and with the honors program and scholarship that sounds great.

If you're leaning more towards the "relations" side, like writing about politics and perhaps doing governmental public relations, BU's program is awesome.

I think you should cross NYU off the list. No money, no honors, and their programs for politics and communications are not nearly as good as your other choices WITH money & honors.

And don't know anything about Dickinson, but I the GW and BU are great choices. Congrats.

GW seems better for politics. Dickinson is in the middle of no where so I can't imagine that as having many opportunities but maybe I am mistaken. BU is incredible for IR, I agree, and the abroad programs include several Spanish speaking countries, a great IR program in Geneva, plus you can still do a BU semester at GW through BU's program in D.C. Go to the accepted student days at GW and BU and see what feels right to you.

One thing in BU's favor is that so many students in DC are studying these subjects, especially with Georgetown and all, so you may have a better chance of obtaining internships and/or distinguishing yourself at BU. Look over BU's web site in IR. The faculty is awesome and from top Ph.D. programs in the US and abroad. I'm sure that's probably true at the other schools too. It think of NYU as more suited for Finance or the Arts plus it costs so much to go out in NYC.

gw is better for politics, but bu is cooler (iono i just like thet school/area)

George Washington. No question.

GW is probably your best choice right now if you're considering prestige and money only, followed by NYU and BU. But I suggest visiting all four colleges before deciding.

Thank youuu again.

I've definetely visited all of them. NYU twice, actually. NYU, GW, and BU's campuses all felt very comfortable to me. I like Dickinson as a school - they have extremely good international programs - but I need to be in a big city and Carlisle, PA isn't going to cut it.

What with NYU's no scholarship, it's between BU and GW. Thanks for all your input. I'm researching their comparative IR programs right now. Anyone know how their business schools compare? <in case I want to get a dbl major in something that will actually make me some money ;)

GWU better for political science. BU better for business. Equal for IR.
