I was just wondering about BU’s medical program. I am interested in becoming a doctor and was wondering how the pre-med major was. I was also wondering what the stats were for the people in pre-med. Thanks for your help!

I'm not really an expert on the subject, but my sister went to BU and she started as a pre-med major. She eventually switched but it was tough and she would have been really prepared for the MCAT. However, I hear that nowadays you're better off majoring in something like bio or chem instead of pre-med in case you change your mind or thigns dont go as planned :)

to my knowledge they dont have a pre med major anymore..its just a concentration and you major in something else

this might help http://www.bu.edu/cas/undergraduate/premed.html

mel5656 is right, there is no official pre-med major to start in. Most people start with a major in bio or chem and then change to being a med student somewhere around sophmore year by applying to the med school. You can even swap from being a BME major to being a medical student, which I'm seriously considering myself. The only way to start as a med/pre-med student would be to go into the 7-year med program. All other ways get you an M.D. in 8 years.

If you are wondering about the SMED (Seven year MEDical program) go drop a thread in the "Multiple Degree Programs" Forum. People there will be able to give you much more indepth information.
