Im from northern florida and was recently accepted to both BU and UF. Considering that cost is irrelevant, which school has a better academic reputation? Im going to be majoring in economics btw...

BU.. if it were me

Do you plan to return to Florida someday? UF has a great local reputation, but on the east coast or midwest people may think more highly of BU.

How do you feel about being close to home? Have you visited BU? It's VERY urban, quite integrated into the city. Is that what you want?

Statistically, these two colleges have some similarities, but one data point in the USNWR rankings caught my eye. Alumni giving. Normally, a big public college like U Florida would be at a severe disadvantage, but in this measurement, their giving percentage is 17% while BU is at 7%. Interpret that as you wish, but I think it is indicative of the level of passion that U Florida's students and alumni feel for their school. That alone might be the biggest differentiator in comparing the experience of these two colleges and, as Hanna suggests above, could have important implications should you return to Florida post-graduation.
