I was accepted at BU but no money, and got scholarships from both U Miami and U of Florida. It will be hard to go to BU but I am thinking it would be better to have the contacts/job options in the northeast when I am looking for a job after graduation.

Can anyone help with suggestions, or their experiences? By the way, I live in Florida.

Why would BU get you a better job than Miami or Florida?. That’s nonsense. If FL and MIA are the same price, Miami all the way… smaller classes, more attention, more access to professors, more fun! Oh, and Miami’s Bschool has gotten a lot of press in the past five years.

Florida would have more vastly more research and course options, balanced against the smaller class size, at least in the lower-level classes, at Miami.

Thanks for your input. To answer your question, with my scholarship, UM will cost about $18K and BU is $52K, big difference! UF is virtually free as my parents purchased a prepaid tuition plan.

I am an undecided major, so I am thinking I would have better access to advisors at UM. Both UM and UF have all the majors I am considering.

But I don’t know that UF is known outside Florida except for sports. And it is so big!

I can think of an awful lot of things that you and your parents could do with that kind of money. But, sit down with them and talk about the numbers. They may be in a position to help you pay the difference. Here is one calculator that can help you evaluate the numbers as well as some non-financial criteria: [FinAid | Calculators | Advanced Award Letter Comparison Tool](<a href=“Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid”>Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid)

If your concern about UF is that you’ll not have access to good, personal advising, then I suggest you take $10,000 -$15,000 of the $72,000 savings realized by attending UF vs. UM, and hire a personal educational advisor for your four years… perhaps even a person who could both advise and tutor in your most difficult classes.
