hey guys,
I have been accepted to BU. The problem is, its way to expensive. My next option is to attend umass Amherst. The problem there though is that i have been wait listed for the fall semester but accepted for the spring one. I have sent in my BU deposit which holds my spot but does not force me to go there. Can i wait until mid-June to sign up for BU orientation since that is when i hear back from umass? If i don’t get accepted for the fall semester at Umass, what are my options?

I would suggest that if BU is actually too expensive that you move on and either get into UMass for fall or find a job for a while and go in the spring. There is no great disadvantage to starting college in spring. You can make up the courses over summer or can graduate a term later or whatever.

I know you said you sent in the BU deposit but I’m not sure what you gain from that if you’re only talking a semester. Worst case is you could earn some money and go in spring.

If you can afford BU, then you could in fact go there but if the idea is to avoid a term off don’t do that.

Well my reason for sending in the deposit is because i do not want to be without a college for my freshman year. If i didn’t send my deposit into BU and i was not granted admission to umass, I’d have to take a whole year off. I understand what you’re saying about going to BU for only one semester is not a good idea. I completely agree with that. thanks for the response.
