BU to Tufts

Hello,

I'm new to CC so let me know if I've got everything right here, etc. I was looking to get some third party advice on transferring.

Right now I'm a sophomore on track do a double major in Poli Sci and History at Boston University (although that might change, looking at research/honors opportunities, switching a major to journalism/business... not that relevant).

Overall I'm a little disillusioned by the academic/social scene here -- size of classes are large, group of friends is small, there are not a lot of stimulating, intellectual discussions (at times it can feel more like high school than higher learning). I should note that BU isn't intolerable, it's simply mediocre at times. Admittedly, I aimed too high with my original college applications and ended up at my safety school.

So, I was thinking about transferring to Tufts (I realize I need to sort everything out by mid March). But, in terms of applying to grad school, is there a significant difference in the weight/reputation associated with the two schools? What about in terms of entering the job market right out of my undergraduate university? Is transferring worthwhile if the amount of catch-up work infringes upon my opportunities to go abroad, or do honors work? I.e., Is "Major in Political Science at Tufts" better than "Major in Political Science with Departmental Honors at BU"?

Any advice, general or specific, would be grateful. For context, I have a 3.7 GPA, around 2100 on SATs. Great work experience, volunteer experience. Getting prof. recs is going to be tough, don't know many professors personally...

Cheers, let me know if you need anything else.
