BU Transfer Advice

I’m a freshmen who is interested in transfering to BU–I was waitlisted as a freshmen applicant for this year.

Transfer admission isn’t terribly competitive, the average GPA is a 3.5.

I’m currently taking 18 credits, but I am considering droppping a 3 credit course…at this point though, I’d have to take a W on my transcript.

Do you think I should stick it out and risk getting a D or F or should I take the W? I know some schools will look over W’s. I’m really hoping someone on here has successfully transfered with W’s. Do you think a W is better than a C?

Thanks in advance.

You'd probably have better luck posting on BUnite, which is a BU live journal community. You need transfer student input.

I'll give it a try. I just felt that this site was better for admission advice and that was more for what's going on around campus. Thanks.

Try BUnite but meanwhile, what college are you in now? Personally I'd take a W over a D or F.

Temple U. I really overloaded my schedule this semester and have two 3 hour 1 credit labs on top of the 16 normal credits, so I can't really keep up with that class.

I think I can end up with a C--I'm just not sure if a W is better than that or not.

No way? You go to Temple? I took marketing there this summer. What major? You really didnt like it huh?

Hah, yeah. My roommate is from Wynnewood (Griffin Wright). Temple has a decent business school, but BU was my 2nd choice and Temple was my 7th...that'st he main thing. Yet BU waitlisted me so I got stuck here for a year. I'm undecided, but some liberal arts. I don't like that it's a public school (2000/32000 students on campus on the weekends) and it's not really up to par accademically. I know I'm doing poorly in one class, but I really just over did it my first semester and I did horribly on the midterm...there are only 2 grades in the class.

Dont know him, but it's crazy that he lives in the same place I do. Have you taken classes at Fox yet? My dad is a Temple (and Fox School of Business) alum. Temple has very decent academics, despite what others think. My biggest gripe about going to Temple is that it has no recognition besides the tri-states. BU has worldwide recognition.

Consider how big the med school is, it does surpriseme how unknown it is. I haven't taken any Fox classes yet...anything business related doesn't interest me.

Their Lib. Arts are OK, not great. Dont know about the med school.
