Transfer from boston university

WM Freshman currently entering 2nd semester at BU. Got a 3.6gpa in Arts & Sciences for first semester and have SATs of 1300 (700M/600V). Not sure if it even matters, but would not be applying for fin. aid.

Wondering about my chance of being admitted as a transfer next Fall. I know the percentage of transfer acceptances is fairly low but just wondering if I'd even have a shot.

Appreciate any and all thoughts.

According to the stats at collegeboard, Colby’s transfer acceptance rate last year was 20 out of 164, or about 12%. Top LACs commonly have very low transfer acceptance rates; it’s generally harder to get in as a transfer than as a freshman, because the attrition rates are low and demand for the few available openings is high.

700 M is competitive for Colby, 600 V is on the low side.

You have a very high chance of getting in and should go for it. At a small school like Colby with a small admissions department you should DEFINITELY tour and interview and, in that interview, make a strong case for yourself attending a liberal arts college rather than a university. Grade wise, with a 3.6 at BU you have already proven you can handle Colby academics–which is all that Colby is really worried about. The low acceptance rate to Colby is misleading. Many of those applicants are applying from Maine state schools, community colleges, and other institutions which, in terms of transferring, are not as highly regarded as solid universities like BU. Give it a shot.

I agree with CamelMan. Good luck myoneandonly!
