Would it be better to apply as a freshman or sophomore? I feel as if the professors won’t know much about me to write a good letter of recommendation if I decided to apply as a freshman. Btw, how did you approach your professors on this topic?

Does BU have “rolling admissions” for transfer students? Would it be too late/early if I decided to finish my application by late-January of next year to also be considered for the Sean’s scholarship?

I apologize for all the questions I just really want to know.

@Nostalgia14 what exactly do you mean by that? Did you start attending BU as a sophomore in your spring semester? Then why do you have to apply again?

@Aprtnf967 no I’m at a city college right now, i took a gap year and a half after high school so I started in the spring instead of the fall before that. So my semesters are off from normal fall starts. So my buddies are all seniors this fall, my 1.5 year gap makes me a second semester sophomore this fall. Sorry its confusinggg

Does anyone know when they’re gonna start releasing decisions?! My transfer application has been in since October and I’m getting SO impatient!!

This is wishful pre-planning as none of us are actually going to BU yet… but has anyone heard anything about transfer housing such as where they often have places for us? Best places to live on campus?

@nostalgia14 hours are credits! Sorry I’m from Texas so we describe things differently I guess. I am so anxious for admission decisions to be released especially since freshman applicants all received their decisions!

@laurenkes, I heard housing on Bay State Road are pretty sweet. They are regular 3 (or I guess 2) story dorms. Bay State housing is apparently one of the best locations on campus. My proffessor, who is a BU graduate herself said that Bay State is awesome.

@klgood okay that makes sense! @laurenekes Haha yeah a little early. I’m not really sure of what each housing area is called, but my buddy lives in towers (I think) the one on the edge of campus and he says he hates it because people don’t have that open door policy on the first week-that many of the younger ppl’s dorms do, so he wasn’t able to meet as many people as he would have liked.

What else am I supposed to do but hypothetically plan my housing situation during this awful waiting period? Hahaha. The brownstones on Bay Street do look really nice…

Hey everyone, I have been following this discussion because I am also really anxious to get my admissions decision ASAP haha. I called BU and requested them to put my application on a first-read list (you can do that if you do not know) and today I received an email from BU that requested some extra syllabi for classes I wanted evaluated and ALSO I got an email like this (I am leaving out my personal information):
Dear ----:

Your official Boston University ID (UID) number is: U-------

You will use your UID throughout your years as a BU student for everything from contact with admissions and BU departments to registering for classes. Until you memorize your UID or receive your student ID card, be sure to keep this email on hand.

Best wishes,

John C. McEachern
Director of Admissions

I think this means I have received admission already? My applicant link is not updated but just wanted to let people know they might be already releasing some decisions and you can request to be put on a first-read list if you would like the decision faster.

@AdoddProductions, That’s good to know that I can make the process faster. I really don’t wanna mess with the admissions right now haha. Just wanna leave them alone while do their thing. Would that hurt my chances if I ask them to put my application on first priority?

@cctransfer212 It doesn’t hurt your application at all, don’t worry. The lady I talked to was really friendly and understanding. I just told her I had another college I had been accepted to and had to meet the May 1st deposit deadline (U of M) and they understood. That is the main reason they do that for transfer students.

@cctransfer212 Yeah applicant link still hasn’t updated and I’m not sure if it will update at all this weekend but I’ll let you know if it does. I was admitted to BU as a freshman (3.8 high school gpa, 7 AP classes, 29 act, kind of average in the admit pool) and I enrolled but had to withdraw because of personal/financial reasons. I went to a community college for this freshman year now and I got a 4.0 with 16 credits (first semester) and for my midterm report (second semester) I’m taking 20 credits currently and have a 4.0. If I am admitted, I am very anxious about financial aid…

@AdoddProductions, I have 36 credits with a 3.6. At the end of this semester I will have 44 with a higher GPA hopefully. My ECs are good. Established a club at my school, a lot of volunteer work and all. You seem good man. I hope you get in when considering the fact that you already were admitted in the first place.
