Ok, so ive been accepted to all three of them for business. But i honestly don’t have anything to go by on besides rankings but i don’t want to go on that. I live in the midwest so visiting isn’t really option. So info about the program, campus, or overall feel out of each of them would be greatly appreciated Thanks

I've also been accepted to all 3 for business. Congrats!

BC - prestigeous, major companies scout there for future employees. I didn't like the campus (way too many stairs everywhere, most freshmen don't live on the main campus and have to take a shuttle bus). If you're catholic, it's a great place to be. If you're not, well... it's still a good school, but religion plays a big part of the campus life and the academics.

NEU - co-op program, which is a great option for business majors, but NEU is definitely less prestigeous. The campus is in a great location, but I didn't feel any school spirit or college atmosphere there.

BU - their business program is ranked the lowest of the 3, but only fools base their decisions on rankings, so who cares lol. I'll be attending BU so I'm totally biased. BU rules.

Seriously, all 3 of them have great business programs. I made my decision based on how I liked the campus and the atmosphere.

NEU out of the 3 is the best for business. The CO-OP program just dominates if your a business major.

I'm in the same dilemma. I'm leaning towards NEU even though its less prestigious just because of the awesome curriculum (for intl business at least) and the co-op program. And I also think the campus is nicest. Its a real campus that is within the city and all the buildings are brand new and really nice and modern.

The co-op program is a complete joke.

...why is it a joke?

BC has the best business program, not NEU.

It really depends on what you want. If I weren't so in love with BU, I'd probably say go to BC. There's no co-op, but you can definitely get great internships there too.

Thanks for all the insight. Im definitely leaning towards Boston College but the fact that they have so many core class requirements is troubling to me. So i really don't know.

One of the frustrating part about BC business is that if you do an internship during the school year you cannot get class credit for it. It is really frustrating since it pretty much prohibits you from doing an internship during the school year. BC is definitely the best academically, and I would say NU is hands down the best for career placement coming out.

One thing to remember is that BC also has by far the best alumni networking coming out. BU is notorious for awful alumni networking (just look at their paltry) giving rate. I know NU's is higher than BU's but i would think there would be a big disconnect between their old students and the students coming through now.

well I've been accepted to NEU and BU (didn't apply to BC because there's no diversity and too far from Boston....I love the city life, religions a big part of it and I'm not Catholic)
I'm choosing Northeastern over BU for a number of reasons:
1) I know people say rankings don't matter but guess what.....it matters to your future employers NEU #27 BU # 44....that's a significant difference
2) Both are located in the city but NEU still manages to maintain that college feel/ atmosphere
3) Co ops are a big deal easpecially for Business Majors....we'll earn enough money to pay for housing and food for all 5 years and at the same time get that precious work experience with Fortune 500 companies
4) Once again...another rank....NEU is ranked #1 for internships...now thats a big deal
5) When you graduate from Northeastern the co op employers you worked with offer you jobs in their companies with am average starting salary of 55,000 a year while UPenn graduates from Wharton are offered an average starting salary of 62,000 a year....go figure.
Of course you can only take advantage of all these great things Northeastern has to offer if you study hard and work hard
Sidenote: Boston College has a great business school too but I didn't apply there for reasons mentioned above

Red_Glory: You make some really good points about BC's lack of diversity Do you know how bad it is. I'm a not-white, not catholic male so will it be way more difficult for me to fit in. Is there more diversity at BU and NEU? And thanks for the stats on the co-op.

Got into BU and NU, but the great thing about this forum is that it's ALL opinion-based. If you want to go by rankings or campus feel or even prestige, that's alright. All of these conflicting opinions mean only one thing: it's really best to decide for yourself...

A bad alumni giving rate does not mean awful alumni networks...

It doesn't matter to employers, and that's not much of a difference. Negligible.

AG123: yea I've heard alot of the lack of diversity. I couple of my friends have applied there and 2 were accepted....they say its a great school but the lack of diversity is certainly one of the downsides. If you're not white or catholic you'll still find people to hang out with but its just that the majority of students are so it will be awkward and may also be tough to make friends

in terms of diversity, BU is more diverse than NEU but NEU has its fair share of international students, asians, african americans, hispanics compared to BC

One of Boston College's biggest draws is its campus.

Less than forty percent of freshman, far from "most", live on Newton campus and some prefer it.

Other than BC students taking two theology courses as part of its liberal arts core, religion does not have a big influence on campus. I am not religious and I don't feel at all influenced by BC's Jesuit affiliation in a negative way.

I'd go with BC or BU...BC is higher ranked, but BU is right in the city which might make internships and stuff easier to get/access...idk though. Both have good campuses also, but in different ways. I like both schools.

And you may like BU better b/c it's much more diverse than BC. BC is predominantly white, rich Catholics...they may be open-minded and inclusive, but you may feel more comfortable at a more diverse school where you are virtually guaranteed to fit in fine and not have to worry about a BC-type student body.

Red_Glory: I don't know where you got your rankings from but according to USNews, BU is ranked much higher than Northeastern.

Anyway, rankings don't matter. You should go where you think you'll fit in best. I didn't like BC because of the lack of diversity and the conservative/catholic campus, but you may like that, so it just depends. Northeastern isn't as known as the other two. I mean the co-op program is great and it will really help you get a job, but outside of the northeast, the school isn't known. BU is right in the city, so if you like an urban atmosphere fo there. It all just depends on your preference.

sak09: I got my rankings from Business week because the OP's major is business and so is mine
I like most of the people in the US don't pay attention to US News rankings because it provides no evidence as to how to it ranks a school and therefore I focus more on the ranking of a major and in business Northeastern is #27 and BU is #44....if you don't believe me go check out yourself
and btw I have no bias whatsoever because I've been accepted to both schools...I'm just giving the OP my opinion on the better business undergrad school and if you see the reasons I provided in my earlier not all my reasons are based on ranking

You sound rather ignorant and clueless when it comes to how well known Northeastern is outside of MA because plenty of students are attracted to it from other states in the US (including the Mid west, south-I'm from Texas- and west) and it has representation from several international countries in both Europe and Asia.
BU has a reputation for letting in rich internationals and rich ivy rejects with relatively low grades compared to the rest of the hard working applicants which is one of the many reasons I'm turning away from it not to mention the ifnamous grade deflation
so yea BU is well known, but its well known for the wrong reasons
BU is going to remain stationary in terms of ranking for the next couple of years while Northeastern will continue climbing ranks and soon bypass BU
which is why I'm choosing the school which has more potential and at the same time prepares me for the working world
Sure BU is perceived as more prestigious than Northeastern but for a business major a degree from Northeastern is more valuable in terms of academic experience and job opportunities

Well one, BW's rankings are terrible and two, you're slightly overvaluing a Northeastern degree.
