2280
3.7 GPA
760 chem and 750 MAth II
considered BU my match/safety school. got outright rejected.
not to be arrogant but epople with way lower stats got in and im just in disbelief.
really considered BU as a possible school.

2220, top 10%, 770 maths 2, 750 physics, also rejected.

And there’s 4 people so far on here with far higher than the 75th percentile stats who’ve been waitlisted.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/boston-university/1477631-waitlisted-high-stats-demonstrated-interest.html

Pretty sure they’re working on their yield.

2130, 3.7GPA, long-term extracurriculars, leadership positions, volunteer work and a good mid year report… Rejected

I thought I would get accepted. If not at least get waitlisted. :(

2350, 4.0/4.24, ranked in top 4%. Flat-out rejection. BU was one of my safeties as well. Thankfully I’ve already been accepted to my other safeties as well as UCLA.

I just… All of my wat.

congrats stupiddorky on UCLA. im kinda speechless lol. your stats are killers.

@onmyway, thanks. I don’t really know what to think, so thankfully I wasn’t very attached to BU. Just realized I accidentally reported my GPA as 4.24/5.0… maybe that has something to do with it? I thought that would have been corrected by my transcript, though.

Either way, well, shucks. We’re their loss, right?

I’ve seen this kind of thing on some other college threads and the only explanation is yield protection - they know you’ll get into other schools and don’t think you’ll actually attend BU. It’s kind of ridiculous… but you’ll end up in a good place.

I agree with Sunny100, I think that they also know that the kids with super high stats (such as yourselves) consider BU a safety. Unless you have showed admissions a lot of interest in BU, they probably figure it is not your first choice.

The same thing happens with a couple of other schools with a lot of applications coming in – Northeastern is notorious for it, as is WashU. Rejecting people who are great students but won’t attend can boost rankings.
