My son received these two scholarships based on his GPA through Junior Year. He has had an extremely difficult Sr. year (more than just Senioritis) and his grades have significantly dropped. Does anyone know if OSU would rescind admissions or scholarships?
No one can really know, but (assuming he will still earn his hs diploma) probably not. All you can really do is encourage him to do his best moving forward. If they did rescind, ask about an appeal process to explain extenuating circumstances (especially any medical reasons) and negotiate for a conditional admission.
You can see the minimum tOSU gpa that must be met to maintain merit scholarships https://sfa.osu.edu/current-student/accept-aid/view-your-aid/accept-scholarships and most are “Measured at the end of the second year and annually thereafter, except Eminence which is reviewed at the end of the 1st year and annually thereafter.” It is a generous policy that takes into account the fact that many young adults find the transition to college more challenging than anticipated.
If his grades are bad enough he could have his admission rescinded. How bad are they? C’s? Or are you talking D’s and F’s?
This quarter mainly Ds. Will probably end up with mostly Cs. He had a 3.87 GPA at end of Jr. Year. He has a very hard course load and a ton of extra curricular as well as ADD.
