Bucknell...

I have heard many things about Bucknell so I hada few questions to see if everyone thought the same.

1) How hard is it to get into the Engineering School at Bucknell?
2) Is it a very preppy-jocky school? (of course, every school has it's individuals...but overall)
3) Are sports a high priority are Bucknell?

Do you have any suggestions like Bucknell? I was looking at Lafayette, Gonzaga, and Davidson as well.

thanks

Bucknell's engineering programs are very well-regarded and considered to be much harder to get into than the other programs at BU. The kids I know who go there have found that Eng. students typically have SAT scores 100-200 pts. higher than those in other majors.

BU has a heavy enrollment from NY, NJ and New England areas, so trends that are big in those areas do tend to travel to Lewisburg. You will see a lot of popped collars if that's how you define preppy.

Some sports at BU do seem to be big...esp. basketball after BU's surprising performance at the NCAAs in March. I think they only lost 1 or 2 players to graduation, so the kids are very excited for next season. The water sports and lacrosse also seem to get a lot of attention. But football doesn't seem to be very well-attended, although the players are enthusiastic! If you are not involved in a varsity sport, intramurals are VERY big at BU - all kinds of leagues all seasons...men, women and coed...kids really seem to enjoy them.

If you are looking at Bucknell for engineering, an obvious alternative would be Lehigh.
