Burnett Medical Scholars Program: Share your experience?

Once you are accepted to BMSP, you still have requirements to have GPA of >3.75 (at graduation), MCAT score >32, interview, volunteering, etc. But once you satisfy all the requirements, you are guaranteed a spot at UCF medical school. With such stats, I am sure you have a chance at other med schools too, but it is nice to have a guaranteed spot without going through the application process. Has anyone gone to UCF Med School through BMSP? Or do you know of someone who has done it? Is there data on students who finished BMSP successfully? Any info on students who are in or done with the program is appreciated.

This doesn’t sound like a guarantee at all. You are guaranteed a medical school spot by meeting the stats of typically admitted medical students? Huh!! Seriously, that is what this program you described.

I think it’s a pretty nice guarantee, as the OP mentioned, it’s less stress and anxiety during medical application season with a guaranteed med school.

I have researched more on the subject and I found the following article useful. UCF used to have an accelerated medical school program (3yr at UCF+4yr at USF Med School) with USF Med School. Apparently UCF started its own 4+4 program (Burnett Medical Scholars) with UCF Med School. The program has strict benchmarks to complete each year and if you satisfy all the requirements, you will be a great candidate for any medical schools. And if you decide that med school is not for you, then you can simply get out of the program and pursue other interests.
