BU's CGS vs. SMG

i applied to BU’s School of Management but was accepted to just the College of General Studies.

questions:

how hard is it to transfer to SMG after 2 years? what are the requirements?

can i transfer to another university like NYU after 2 years?

in your opinion, would i better off by going to BU’s CGS and then transfering, or by going to Northeastern’s B-school?

thanks a lot! i really appreciate it!

The only part of your question I can answer is that almost everyone is able to transfer to another college within BU after two years in CGS. Also, you can take one course a semester in another BU college.

how do you know what college you were accepted to?

^ it says so in your acceptance letter

CGS was not worth the money.

Well to some it is worth the money. Could you not afford BU? Going from BU CGS program to Temple which is like 9,000 a year speakes volumes.

My dad is the CEO of a publicly traded telecom company…

Why isn’t CGS worth the money if you can transfer to SMG and come out of BU with the exact same degree???

Because you’re just taking gen ed classes you can take anywhere else, and they’re more difficult than gen ed classes should be.

But you can’t end up with a U SMG degree by taking classes elsewhere. It seems like you may have to work a little harder, but end up light years ahead for the future?

Um, of course you can; you could go somewhere else and transfer to BU.

If you can get in then on the transfer. I would assume it is easier to stay in and transfer w/in BU

There’s no way a transfer student can graduate from SMG in 4 years.

Most college students don’t graduate in four anyway, so it’s not really a big deal.

Maybe CGS dropouts like you don’t, but normal college students indeed do.

CGS dropouts? I transferred. No, most college students don’t. You might want to look up the statistics.
