Despite putting only six pack dorms and Allen Hall on my preference list, I was placed in Busey Evans. I have heard that Busey Evans is very quite and study oriented. I'm very outgoing, I like to party (not crazy amounts, but I definitely enjoy going out), and I'm not the quiet study type. I decided not to try to switch dorms because the majority of my classes are in the Art and Design Building and I was concerned I would end up in a dorm far from it. So I am going to go in with an open mind and maybe I will like Busey Evans. But I am wondering if you can and how you would go about switching dorms if it isn't a good fit? Also does anyone have any experiences with Busey Evans? Thanks!

I think you would of had a better chance of getting a response if you posted this specifically in the uiuc section

Any who at the housing website you click the link at the top that says “my housing” you log in and then click the link that says request hall change

Most kids have already applied and have been switched to the six pack
so I think you should go do that right away

Even though I’m only going to be a freshman too I haven’t heard anything bad about busey
It’s not anti social but it’s not the friendliest either
Nickname: virgin vault
Cleanest bathrooms on campus supposedly
even if you get stuck there you could always go party elsewhere it’s not the end of the world

Thanks! I just reposted it there. I’ve never used this site before. It sounds like one of the cleaner dorms, hopefully I like it. I think six pack is probably full at this point.

Busey Evans is actually pretty far from the A+D building. Even PAR/FAR would probably put you closer.

Busey Evans IS very quite. I never lived there, thank goodness, because like you I like to be social and go out. The sooner you put in a request for a dorm switch the more likely you’ll be to get approval. If it doesn’t happen this semester, you’ll have better luck next semester since often new sorority/fraternity members will move out of their dorm into their chapter’s house, people studying abroad will leave, some people transfer out, etc.

In the meantime, if you are stuck in Busey-Evans, just make an effort to know the people around you. Just because the dorm atmosphere is quiet and reserved, doesn’t mean the people there are. You’ll probably find plenty of people like you who are gregarious and just got ‘stuck’ in a dorm not of their choosing.
