Business and music

Hi, I just got accepted into the business and music program at American. I also applied to NYU, Drexel, Northeastern, U of Miami and Syracuse. I keep trying to research their business and music program compared to the others and can’t seem to find anything. Does anyone know how it compares to the others?

Are you looking for info other than what’s on the AU website, which is pretty detailed? My guess is that this is a fairly new program with a small number of participants, so chances are slight that anyone posting here would have any personal knowledge. Good luck with your research and decision.

MommaJ is right in that it’s still a very new program, so classes will likely be small. I view this is a positive thing in that you will get a lot of personal attention, which goes a very long way. I know the program is structured to be business AND music, so you will do essentially both a business major and a music major with a capstone at the end that’s more of a synthesis of the two. I’m not an expert (not being in the program myself) but I believe this is what differentiates it most from other programs, which are more business OF music. However, we also have an excellent audio technology and engineering program that has courses in studio management, which is a great supplement (and their new recording studios, which just opened this year, are INCREDIBLE. I’ve heard them described as “some of the best on the east coast”, for what that’s worth). Hope that helps, although like MommaJ said the website is pretty detailed and I probably repeated some of what was on there. If you have more specific questions definitely ask and I’ll try to corral a friend of mine currently in the program into giving you more first-hand answers.
