Business at AU

ok i heard the AU IR, and Pol Sc are great, how about the business school, anyone has an idea?
And what are the placements for business graduates?

Umm, bump...

The only thing I know about the business school is that they have a ridiculous number of internationals there (don't know if that's good or bad), and one student I met in it had really sweet internships (don't know if that's typical).

Kogod is good. It is certainly improving.

im in kogod and i dont find it overwhelmingly international. au is obviously well known for politics and international studies, but kogods ranking is going up approximately 20 spots a year. that shows that we are constantly working to improve the program and that improvement is being recognized. we have the largest endowment of all the schools which 1) means that we get presents which is pretty sweet (last year we got usb flash drives and there are rumors that were all getting blackberrys in the fall) and 2) that means that alumni are successful and pleased with the education they received. i have really enjoyed the business classes i have taken thus far and i love the fact that we are given the opportunity to explore multiple aspects of business without having to commit to one area. we all graduate with a bsba (bach of sci in business administration) but you specialize (basically minor) in an area like accounting, real estate, finance, marketing, etc. in regards to internships, i just finished freshman year so i didnt have an internship in dc yet, but i applied without any previous experience for an internship in the accounting department of a large bank for this summer, and was chosen. kogod obviously has a decent enough reputation if i got an internship like that with no experience.

How hard is it to get in Kogod??

I think you guys are overselling Kogod a bit. It's not even ranked in USNews. It has zero name recognition throughout the United States. AU is good for politics and what not, but don't go there for anything else, especially business.

i dont think im overselling it. i didnt mean to imply that kogod has huge name recognition, only that the program has been steadily improving over the last decade and i happen to think that is a good sign. there are not a ton of business schools that have name recognition anyway, its usually just recognition of the overall school. and the few that do have that name recognition are obviously a completely different level than au and gw.
