I am a high school senior and I am torn between the university of iowa, and depaul and loyola in chicago. Iowa is my top choice but I would have to take the risk of not getting in the business school (I was denied direct admission). Loyola has direct admission and DePaul’s Finance program looks pretty difficult (you have to get a Finance GPA of 2.7 to declare the major). Does anyone have any advice on which school would be the best for business? And would it be a bad idea to choose Loyola over DePaul? I am majoring in finance and would like to pursue a career in investment banking or analysis. Loyola is the most expensive but it may be worth it for direct admission into business.
University of Iowa does have an excellent Business program, so I think that would be the best school for you . Just do well your freshman year and transfer to Business when you can. Go hawks!
How much more expensive? Run the numbers here, and talk the differences over with whoever it is who will be helping you pay for your education: http://www.finaid.org/calculators/awardletteradvanced.phtml
One advantage that DePaul has is the business school location in downtown Chicago. The school has developed strong ties with local business, and there are strong opportunities for internships and part time work. If you want to stay in Chicago after graduating, DePaul would be a better choice.
loyola would cost me about 37k per year whereas iowa and depaul would be around 34-35k a year. I like the college town feel like the one at iowa as opposed to depaul and loyola. I also just looked at Arizona State bus school (and they are ranked pretty high…and I would be directly admitted. Unfortunately it might be too late too apply and I don’t know much about ASU. Also very far away from home
Update: A while ago I sent in direct admission petition for Iowas bschool with 24 act and 3.77 gpa but I was denied. I just sent in a new petition with 25 act and 3.82 gpa…does anyone know what my chances would be or anything about direct admit?? I’m really stressed!
