Business Econ vs. Econ

Hey everyone, I’m applying to UCLA this fall but I’m not sure what the difference is between business economics and economics…I’m looking to pursue a career in finance. Can anyone explain it to me?

Bump

It’s basically economics with some accounting courses.

Because UCLA does not offer an undergraduate degree in business, the business economic degree is the closest major to an undergraduate business degree at UCLA. If you are pursuing a career in finance, the business economics is the best way to go. Also, if you later decide you might want to pursue accounting, bus. econ. is also the best way to go. Many of the Big 4 firms hired bus. econ. graduates for their assurance (formerly audit) and consulting groups. Also, major financial institutions and businesses hired UCLA bus. econ. students for finance positions.

If you want an undergraduate business degree, the UC’s that offer it are UCB Haas, UCR and UCI. Haas does not accept freshman applicants and only accept junior transfers.
