Any one planning to pursue this major? Any current students already pursuing it who can give some insight into the curriculum, faculty, internships, study abroad opps, etc.

I looked at the AU Academic Data Reference Book for 2013 to see how many graduated in Business and Entertainment, and it appears that it’s a newish major, replacing, and apparently expanding upon, the former Business and Music major. As for the latter, only three people graduated with a Bachelors in that major last spring, and only two in each of the previous two years. So while I do hope someone responds, unless enrollment in this major has increased a lot in the last few years, it seems that there aren’t many out there who could comment. Perhaps the Kogod folks could put you in contact with a student currently pursuing Business and Entertainment.

I’m planning on majoring Business and Entertainment at AU! I’d also be anxious to hear about individuals who previously majored in Business and Music, since it recently changed, but it always seemed like such a niche major that there wouldn’t be very many.

My son is pretty certain that’s what he wants to major in and that is the only reason he applied to AU. I agree when looking at the stats they are low. According to AU reps they have revamped the major to allow students to specialize in B&E. I’m definitely planning on speaking with them more. My son is visiting for overnight university college and I expect that he will be inquiring as well. He’s torn between that major and Entrepreneurship.

It seems that instead of forcing people to specialize in music, they now have multiple specialization tracks: Agency, Audio Technology, Music Performance (what I plan on specializing in), Film, or a self-designed one. It seems like a difficult major, but I’ve always enjoyed challenging myself.
