Anyone else doing this (or has done it). D is excited about it starting as frosh this fall. Has been accepted into Marshall school. Has contacted music school, and has info on the minor. Just wondering if any of you have experience with this combination. "business of entertainment/music".

thx

It’s common and I saw it happen a lot; also saw Marketing + music industry minor, Advertising + music industry minor and Comm + music industry minor.

I loved the music industry minor program; if you take the right classes, it will be 100% worth your time. But, I’m guessing you will automatically write off my opinion! Too bad.

… why would he automatically write off your opinion? o.o

I’m an Interactive major + music industry/recording double minor. The Industry department (which runs both the Industry and Recording minors) is great, filled with excellent professors who all have hands-on experience in the industry. They’ve pretty much all worked on big time record deals and records. Slightly ridiculous.

BCA (Business and Cinematic Arts, Business of Entertainment, whatever, same thing, I’ve heard it called both ways) is a major I have a very high amount of respect for. BCA majors take elective courses in the School of Cinematic Arts, with options including courses like Film Business Procedures and Distribution, Business and Management of Video Games, and more. Seems to me like BCA + music industry would provide a very good foundation for a career in the entertainment industry/with entertainment law (which is what I want to do).

I’m planning on also doing this in the fall! :)
