Business Finance major vs Information Technology and Management. Which major do you think will be more employable for a person in the near future? I don’t have interest in anything and I just want to be financially stable once I graduate from college. I want to have a beneficial degree. Many people say ITM is like a generic Conputer Science degree… one should just major in Computer Sience rather than ITM. I have not heard much abou Business Fianance.
Have you read much into business finance curriculums so you know what you’re getting yourself into?
It really depends on your personal interests and aptitudes.
No but I just don’t want to waste anymore time choosing a major so I would rather just go into a marketable major that will gaurentee me a job after graduation. I mean if we are all honest many people don’t find their job interesting or enjoy the work they do they are just glad to get a check that will pay their mortgage, phone bill and things. So I ask again which minor seems marketable with a Business Finance degree.
I’m confused. In your OP you asked for a major but now you’re asking for a minor ? What minor for a finance degree depends on what you wanna do. If you wanna work on wall street than something like statistics, if you wanna work in tech you could pair it with a CS minor or vice versa.
Okay so I could pair it with Information Technology Management minors which has the following I am interested in either internet application development, information secuirty, information system network management or so may others all the minors are listed on this link…

I wAnt to work in tech.
If you’re more interested in tech why not get some kind of IT related major, and then minor in finance?
Hmm okay let me ask you this? Which do you think is more marketable tech or business?
Honestly I don’t think I’m knowledgeable enough to answer that, but I’d say you’re in pretty good hands with either.

It depends on the type of tech though. If you’re just talking about a business degree with a concentration in IT then it’s probably about the same as a concentration in finance. But if you’re interested in working in tech you could consider a software or computer engineering degree if you want to get paid even more.
Try to spend some more time exploring careers and what you might want to do. High tech companies have all kinds of roles - sales, marketing, support, developers, finance, HR, etc. I worked in high tech for 20 years and had an engineering background and an MBA - both probably opened some doors but I don’t think either one was necessarily required. I was in Business Development but many business related roles - sales, marketing, bus dev - can just as easily be accomplished with a solid business degree. Getting good internships will position you for a good first job and get your career started then perform, learn, network, and take advantage of opportunities. Don’t over analyze a “minor” in this and that. Major in a business area that you have the most interest in and you will be fine.
An Information Technology Management degree is not at all like computer science, which is more theoretical and needs a lot more mathematics in the curriculum. However, there are plenty of good jobs oyu can get with an ITM degree, including programming which is not really the only thing that a CS degree is about.
As far as the Illinois Tech ITM program, you can ask the college what their placement rate is to decide if the career, and specifically that degree from IIT, is a good one.
Hi everyone I am thinking about majoring in Business Finance and my minor will be Information Technology Management… What do you think? Will this degree be more marketable? I no longer want to major in Mechanical Engineering.
