I recently got accepted into Business Honors at A&M. What is the reputation for this program?

How long ago did you get in?

And what were your stats?

Busn Honors at A&M is all about networking. Anyone with a GPA over 3.5 can enroll in honors sections, and if they take enough honors classes, they can graduate with honors. But only the people who were in the top ~3% of their high school that got accepted into BHP get the benefits of the organizational network. I’d get on mays.tamu.edu and see who you can email/call to answer your specific questions.

I have a dozen cousins who can tell you first hand that going to A&M is less about getting a degree with national prestige and all to do with networking. If you graduate from A&M you’ll always at least get an interview, but if you can graduate with honors from A&M, there will almost always be a job, in Texas anyways, and right now Texas is one of the few states with jobs. I would be going to A&M and in the University honors program if Texas A&M- Kingsville (I know. Not that big deal of a school on any level, but a free education is better than years of debt.) hadn’t given me a full ride. However, McCombs BHP is the best business honors program in the state. But you’ll always have your class ring and the Aggie network to fall back on. Just my 2cents and some cousins experiences.

From my experience in Texas knowing people who went into this program, it seems easier to get into Business Honors at A&M than to get into regular business at UT. That said, the Aggie network is great and a lot of Business Honors students come out of A&M to nice jobs working for companies thought to only hire out of the top 10 and Ivy League.

what are your choices?
If you are weighing Mays Business Honors vs regular business, I’d go with Business Honors.
If you are weighing Mays Business Honors vs UT (McCombs) business, I’d go with McCombs.

TAMU has a good reputation in Texas only. If you have movement or flexibility, it’s better to attend UT.
