Business Management vs Hotel Management

So what would I really like is having my own hotel, or starting with my own franchise. I know that it requires time, experience and lots of money, but that is my "dream". I see a lot of times that Hotel Management grads finish at medium-high positions at nice hotels. And although I will of course first start working at a hotel, my main goal is managing one (being the "boss").

So I asked myself, if my main goal is to own/manage my own hotel, should I study Business management? Or is the Hotel Management career offers more "benefits" and its better to achieve my goal?

One thing is that only some universities offer H.M. careers, if I chose this career I would like to study at Cornell, Ecole hotelier du Lausanne, or even at UNLV.

So should I study B.M. or H.M?
And where?

[Paul Smith’s College - Division of Hospitality, Resort & Culinary Management - Hospitality](http://www.paulsmiths.edu/hrcm/hospitality.php)

Ever consider Paul Smiths’ in New York? It flies under everybody’s radar.

No, but right now I’m focusing more on which career to choose.

And UNLV looks really good and it’s next to thousand of jobs.

But B.A. or H.M ???

If your goal is to become a hotel’s general manager, you definitely should study HM;
In the US, Cornell is the no.1
In Switzerland, you have EHL (ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne), Glion and les Roches;
