Business or Comp sci? Chances of transferring to top schools.

Hey I will be enrolling in community college this year. However I am unsure about taking business (accounting) or comp sci. I don’t think my school has finance. Would top colleges, Ivys and other top schools, care about if I took comp sci or business? Also what classes should I take to increase my chances of transferring to a top college. Should I stay for 1 or 2 years? Since i am starting mid term and will be taking summer classes. I can actually finish the 2 years term by 2019 and catch up to my peers.I think this would show colleges I can handle extra workload. My high school average before i dropped out was 84.,up to first semester of junior year. Keep in mind I went to the best high school in my city, Stuyvesant. My sat score is 1900 or 1300 for math and reading. I am positive I could achieve 1500 plus since I never studied for the SAT, only took because my mom bugged me to. I am thinking 2 years would be better since doing 1 year and 2 years I would graduate at the same time. No summer classes and less classes if I did 1 year.

Going back to the majors question, I feel like comp sci would be a much harder class then a business class taught at a community college and top colleges might take that into account. But then again colleges might not want another comp sci major considering there are so many of them. I plan to hopefully double major in finance and comp sci. in a 4 years. Would this be possible if i already took 2 years of community college?

If you’re in NYS, look to see what CC’s have an articulation agreement with Cornell colleges like CALS and Human Ecology, etc. You’d want to ask guidance counselors at the CC’s what you need to do to transfer in to Cornell. Also, Queens College and a few other NYC colleges have a 3-2 engineering agreement with Columbia.

Those are your best chances at getting in to Ivies/equivalents. Chances otherwise are close to nil.

RPI also has a 2+2 program with many NY CC’s.

Why did you drop out of Stuy?

Also, even if you get in, can you afford them?

With regard to what you should study: study what you like. But whatever you study, give your best effort to achieve a high enough GPA to be a competitive transfer applicant.

For that Cornell option I would have to major in biology or something right? Also I would apply for financial aid but if not its only for 2 years which saves alot of money. For that 3-2 agreement I would have to transfer out of my cc after 1 year to a college that ont hat list right?

Not sure you can transfer for the 3-2 program. And you really should talk to a guidance counselor instead of making assumptions. Or look online.
No, why do you think you need to Major in biology?
You can’t start at Queen’s?
And even if it saves a lot of money, can you afford it without fin aid?

Not biology but science majors. sounds like thats what they would want students in for.

^ No, it depends on what major you want to transfer in to. Did you look online?

Yes I did, on the CALS website under majors all of them are science and biology related majors. No computer science or business.

Then you need to read more carefully, considering that Cornell’s business program is within CALS and so is Information Science.
