Having heard mostly about M'berg's strong pre-med and arts programs, i would appreciate learning about its business courses. Also, perhaps because of the pre-med program, I have heard it is a very hard-working school; is this true?
thanks

I don’t think the business program is as competitive as the pre-med program.
I think a hard working B student in high school would not have much pressure, if they applied themselves.

Thanks. Is the business program well-regarded by students?

I did not think a high school B student would be admitted, absent a special athletic or artistic talent

yabeyabe- I really don’t know how other majors at 'berg view the business dept. We were quite surprised when our D added it on to her psych major Sophomore year.
I am certain in years past B students were admitted to 'berg, (especially in the ED round, when so many are admitted)
The competition has become more intense in the last three year’s so a B student may find it more difficult now. I’m not familiar with 'berg’s admissions stats.

Curious why your concern about the reputation of the business program by fellow students. Do you just see 'berg primarily as a pre-med-theatre arts school ?

Thanks.
My interest is whether students see the Business teachers as engaging, expert, reasonable, etc. In our area Muhlenberg is best known for pre-med and theater and finding a small college with a good business program is not easy.

Yabeyabe- I would say all the profs are engaging at Muhlenberg. Muhlenberg also has a unique study abroad program for business majors only. Our D studied at Univ of Maastricht, with Muhlenberg profs, in addition to the profs from Maastricht. Apparently, 'bergs business dept rotates staff through Univ of Maastricht.
It was an excellent program, and I would highly recommend it.

I realize your dilemma trying to find strong business program at a small LAC. Scranton might be something to investigate. I haven’t been there, but the business dept is well regarded.

yabayabe2: Try Dickinson College. They have a major in International Business & Management that is skyrocketing in popularity among new students.

Thanks Plainsman. I hope your daughter enjoys Oberlin.
