Business School Transfer.

I have a friend who plans to transfer to Cornell business school from StonyBrook (NOT top 93 business school according to businessweek rankings). He currently has 3.83 college gpa (15 credits), 3.7 HS gpa, few honors/APs, 1800 SAT, 15/80 HS rank. He has a few clubs/job/EC's but nothing out of the average. He has not job or EC's during his first year of college. He is planning to apply now for next year. What do you think of his chances?

Is he applying to AEM? Does he have the pre-reqs complete?

He wants to do hospitality. I'm not sure what AEM is. Does he have any chance at it? He says he has a good chance (70% for admission because of his college gpa).

well hospitality is the hotel school, which IS the number one hotel school

there is no "business school", its a major called Applied Economics and management in the college of agriculture and life sciences. i think someone said on here it is second only to wharton at penn

applying to the hotel school with no relevant EC's (let alone no EC's at all) isn't a good formula for success. Successful candidates there thrive on having solid hospitality experience well before college - those who don't have the relevant experience, or demonstrate leadership and other unique talents through other EC's or work/volunteer positions.

College GPA is solid, but the rest of the app seems to be barely average at best. I'd say 5-15% chance he gets in.
