My son was told that the reason he was wait listed was his lack of community service and Emory involvement. Apparently this is now a thing. He is guy with a tendency to understate his accomplishments. After getting wait listed he sent in an additional statement listing the intramural sports he plays, that he went to Spain with Emory Summer abroad and he was LEAD chair (volunteering) in his dorm. I think that was what they were looking for.

Hello everyone, I was admitted to Emory as a transfer student for this Spring and would like to apply to the business school. I understand that I am required to spend one year at Emory College before I can apply to the business school. I hear that it is very competitive to get in, with only 70% of applicants being accepted. What exactly do the folks there look for? It is somewhat difficult for me to get involved on campus this semester, especially with the hassle for registering for proper classes (most classes have been filled up) and I can barely meet the 12 credit hour minimum. Will taking less than 15 credit hours in a semester hurt my chances of getting into the business school? How about campus involvement? It seems like the people on here are very knowledgeable judging by the insightful discussion and I would be extremely appreciative and grateful for any advice I can get.

Captain64- Just go onto the business school website and download the 2014 application to see what they are looking for. They want to see a solid GPA in a full schedule of classes with at least a B+ average in the prereqs. PLUS they want to see evidence of community involvement (clubs, student government, volunteering, IM sports, etc).
