Business Transfer Questions/Chances

Hey everyone, I am currently attending USF in Tampa, Florida.

I just completed my 3rd semester, starting my 4th in 2 weeks time. After that semester, I will have earned my AA degree in business.

I am looking to transfer to the UF college of business and I have a couple questions.

My “Stats”:
Overall GPA- 3.58
Core GPA- 3.06

Core Class grade breakdown:
4-Cred:Bus calc=A+. 3-cred: Bus Computer=A.Macro=B. Financial=C. Managerial=C

I still have to take 2 core classes which i am signed up for next semester: Stat & Professional writing. I should be able to obtain an 'A' in these courses, bumping up my core GPA.

1) When is the best time to apply?

2) Should I/Can I apply for multiple semesters? (Summer ’12 & Fall ’12)

3) For my core classes I got: A+, A, B, C, C. Should I re-take one or both of the “c” accounting classes to try and increase my core GPA? On their website it says UF does not honor grade forgiveness?

4) It says on the UF website that if you meet the requirements, you are essentially “guaranteed” a spot.. That is if you have a 3.5 Core GPA – I do not have this, does this mean I will get denied since it is a ‘requirement’?

5) When you apply to UF as a transfer to a college, you must declare your specific major (accounting, finance, mngmt, etc.) Is there a specific part of business that is “easier” or less people apply to? (hopefully increasing my chances since less people are applying to that specific major)

6) What are my options of getting my 4 year degree from UF?

Thank you very much for your time and patience, any and all helpful information is greatly appreciated. Have a happy New Year and good luck in all of your studies! - Jon

I go to USF, and it is the worst. From what I know, if you do not have the core 3.5 you will not be admitted. I tried the same thing.

to answer a few of your questions…

best time to apply, fall then spring then summer

can you apply for multiple semesters at once? no

3.your core grades are a bit low. uf will average all attempts on core classes so in order to improve you would need A’s.

uf does not have to admit you. a state school does meaning if UF feels another state school would admit you (USF) then they may not let you in.

most business majors have to take the same core courses. so this makes them all about the same difficulty.

My advice to you might be to try applying to the online bsba program. It’s what I’m in and probably easier to get into.

I’m in my second semester as a transfer and loving it.
