I got accepted to Babson College, where I would get a B.S. in Business Administration and a concentration in Marketing, and Boston University’s College of Communication, where I would get a B.S. in Communication with a specialization in Public Relations and minor in Business Administration & Management at BU’s Questrom School of Business.
I can’t decide where to attend. Babson costs a little less than half my family’s income and I’ll also take 3.5k worth of direct subsidized loans yearly, so I guess the price isn’t too bad. Babson seems to be pretty prestigious in the business world and seems to have a lot of job opportunities after graduation/companies recruiting graduates. I am definitely interested in marketing, but I’m not sure how I’ll feel about the economics and finance aspects of business administration. I think they’re manageable but I certainly won’t LOVE it.
With the scholarship BU offered me and federal grants, BU will only cost me 1k. And with the 2k federal work study, I guess it’s almost as if I got a full ride and I get to pocket 1k. I applied to COM rather than Questrom because I already applied to other higher ranked undergrad business programs (Babson, Bentley, Boston College, etc.) and BU’s communication program is pretty top notch. In addition, since I’m really interested in marketing AND writing, I thought the communication major with a specialization in public relations would be ideal. However, I’m not sure if I can get a high paying job after college (or even find a job at all) with a communication major. Thus, I plan to supplement my com major with a business minor, but I’m still not sure if that’s going to help much. If majoring in business is a better route, then I think Babson is a much better choice than attending BU and transferring to Questrom, since Babson seems to be the stronger business program, as an undergrad business college. In addition, I’m worried that employers will view BU as a mediocre school.
I’m lost… please help!
