Butler Question

Hi everybody!
So, I've been accepted to Tulane with the Founder's Scholarship, about which I'm ecstatic! However, this means I'm not part of the Honors Program, so I'm sort of disappointed but still definitely considering the school. Should I attend, I'd like to live in Butler. Historically, how difficult is it for non-Honors kids to be able to live there? And if they don't get in, where would the most Butler-y environment (sorry, probably poor wording) be found?
Thanks so much in advance for all replies!

I don’t think there are any stats on how many non-Honors get in, but from what I hear there are always some. One way to enhance your chances is to find an Honors Program student who looks like they will make a good roommate that wants Butler (there are a couple of online roommate-finding programs that will kick into gear after the May 1 deadline, one of them on Facebook) and then you both make it your first choice.

I am taking your “Butler-y environment” statement to mean somewhat quieter and less flat out party oriented. My impression of the ones closest to that would be Wall and JL, but Wall requires a separate application and JL is only an option if you are female.

Thanks a ton FallenChemist!
And yes, your interpretation of a “Butler-y environment” was spot-on.

I agree with what FC said…try to find a roommate who is an Honors Student.

I know several non-honors kids living in Butler. I’d say 20-30% of the Honors students I know live in other dorms (primarily Wall, JL, & Wall), which means there is a significant amount of room for non-Honors students to live in Butler.

There shouldn’t be an issue getting into Butler if you’re not an honors student. It does help to have a roommate though. They don’t need to be in honors, but two people gives you a better chance. I’m in Butler and I’m not in honors. Neither is my roommate. About half of the people on my floor are in honors and about half aren’t. JL and Wall are also quieter environments. P.S. Butler rocks, you want to live there! :)

Thanks everybody! This has been really encouraging.
