Buying Books on Credit?

I am planning on buying books this semester at the bookstore...I know I will probably pay way to much but it is last minute and everything (my classes just got decided today)...

anyway, I have credit on my USC account (they owe me a refund), is there anyway to 'charge' the books to my USC account since the money is already there? Or do I have to physically get a check from USC for the credit, run around to cash/deposit it at my bank, and then go to the bookstore to write a check from my personal bank account/ pay cash for them?

Also, if I have a stafford loan through the USC credit Union can I cash my refund check there?

You can put your credit at USC into a discretionary fund through your USCCard, and pay for it that way.

Okay...thanks.

Would that be the easiest way?

I believe so. The bookstore isn't really connected to the billing system the way tution and housing charges are. Just add a few hundred dollars to you discretionary fund online, and tell the USCard site to bill to your main USC account. That charge will appear on your USC statement and cancel out however much credit you have on there.
