buying stuff at ucsd bookstore

If you want to buy something there, like say a laptop or camera or something, there is an option to charge to your account. How does that work? Like say I wanted to buy a camera and charged it to my account, would it get interest or what? And when does the fin aid money (ucsd and cal grant) get released?

u can just hand them ur student id and tell them to put it on ur student account. the charge will show up on ur monthly bill. no interest.

just keep in mind that that student account works like a charge card, not a credit card (and you're almost always better off using a credit card for large purchases so you can get reward points and warranty coverage)

Just make sure you pay it off on time when your billing due date comes.

alright i'm a little confused i heard that the ucsd aid gets broken down into three parts for the three quarters so if i bought a macbook would i be able to pay it off with my financial aid? I also got calgrant b. i don't want to use credit card because i want to use my financial aid money to buy what i need and from what i've heard the money goes directly to your account

Yes, you're able to pay it off with your financial aid.

ok thanks but what i was wondering was if i bought say a macbook would i have to pay it all off by the first billing date or would it be broken down into three quarters?

Why would you ever buy a Macbook from the bookstore? The discounted price means nothing after you eat the 8.25% sales tax. Just get it from Amazon.com (you get a fat rebate, no sales tax, no shipping).

By the way, Macbooks suck. They're overpriced for the hardware they carry. They aren't even the prettiest notebooks in their class. Get something else.

u would have to pay all by the first billing date.
