So when do people usually buy their books? I know you can go online and on your class schedule you can package all the books you need and pick it up at the FSU bookstore after ordering them.

Is it better to buy it from various sites online, or just save the hassle and get it at the bookstore?

College bookstores are ridiculous unless you are renting a book (I rented a computer class book that’s normally $140 for $50).
Definitely buy online!! You save TONS of money! I got a $140 book for $10!!

Books are really expensive at the bookstore. There are other options. But if money is no object, just go to the bookstore and purchase new books.

I just sold a book on half.com that I used for summer. With the commission I have to pay them, I will ultimately only lose seven dollars from using this text book for the summer semester.

Highly recommend avoiding the bookstore at all costs for both buying and selling. It should be a last resort for buying and NEVER sell your books back to them. Find a friend to buy them from you (they will pay less, and you will get more) or use half.com or amazon.

What is the commission? S just sold a book in like new condition for $60 or something like that. Shipped it for $3. They supposedly refund some of the shipping, right?
Bookstore only offered him $21 for the book he used for 6 weeks.

Commission is 12.5 percent… They charge 3.99 for shipping, but only reimburse 3.07. Not sure where the other .92 is going, but whatever. Still a WAY better deal than the bookstore.

Don’t want to deal with the hassle, so I think I’ll just use my financial aid and buy my books at the FSU bookstore. Looks like online is the way to go if you are in a money crunch though.

The bookstore was trying to sell me a used book for a price that I could get new online. I ended up buying all my books (used) using Amazon- they arrived 2 days after being shipped and I cut my costs in half.
