First, define everything. How much stuff are we talking?

Oh well, I´m an international student, I have to be at the school the 28th of August, but I’ll arrive to NYC the 24th in the morning and then drive to Boston

I have to buy:
ALL SCHOOL SUPPLIES
LINENS
CLOTHES (currently living in a really warm place)
Self care stuff (hair, body, and else)
I actually made this HUUUUUUUUUGE list of things I things I’ll need

We spend all that time on the other packing thread warning you guys about overshopping and you go and start another thread to encourage each other to overshop!

All boarding schools have bookstores that sell school supplies. Wait to see what you’ll need or you’ll end up wasting money and space. Seriously–I wouldn’t even buy a pencil before you get there. Same with storage containers, dorm decorations, bulletin boards. All those things can easily be bought on line or at Walmart once you’re at school (my kid’s school has a van that goes to the mall/Walmart once a week.) You just won’t know until you’re there what you’ll need to hold your stuff or even what you’ll want to wear.

For example: I ended up sending my kid his ratty old comforter from home a month into school. He was homesick and it really helped to get some of his old stuff around him. A year later, on Parent’s Week-end, we went to the LL Bean outlet and got him a new down comforter. He spent most of 10th grade returning stuff to home that he had brought with him in 9th grade and never used.

I guess I’ll just buy the linens, self care, and some clothes, and wait to see what I need and buy it online.

Thankyou :)
