I'm an incoming freshmen and I'm starting to look at laptops. I'm wondering if UCSD offers any special discounts for certain brands or something. And one quick question. Should i delay buying my laptop in case there is a back to school sale or something? Any other advice is welcomed as well.

[UCSD Bookstore: Promotions](http://bookstore.ucsd.edu/computers/promo/index.htm)

i’d personally want the laptop sooner to get acquainted with it over the summer, transfer over important files, etc.

Yeah, thats why i wanted it now. But i’m willing to wait if it means saving a hundred bucks or so

Actually I think most places do promotions before school starts to save $$. With Apple, you get a student discount and a free iPod touch, for example.

I was going to buy my laptop from a site called newegg. My friend suggested it to me. Does anyone know if they ever have back to school sales?

@AndrewL: Newegg has pretty good deals year round. A back to school sale would probably only be for a few models, and even without a sale you’d still be saving alot compared to other retailers.
