I'm trying to cut cost. I found very good deals on textbooks on ebay. The catch is that these sellers are all from India, the books are softcover (not hardcover like the US version), and all the sellers seem to be pretty new.

They claim that the materials inside the book are all the same, which is all that matters to me.

Has anyone bought their textbooks in the "International Version" on Ebay from Indian sellers?

I’ve bought tons of international editions - some from singapore, some from india, etc.

Completely legit.

I’m assuming the quality loss somni mentioned just have to do with the fact that the book is paperback- it will get scuffed up very easily. You can’t just throw it in a bookbag like you can a hardcover.

International editions are fine, but I think you should just get US editions. My international editions got kind of bent up (just because they’re paperback) and I didn’t feel like going on eBay to resell them… so I just threw them away. US editions can sell back at the bookstore, and I’m lazy…

wow, really? I’ve always liked softcovers a lot better. They’re more flexible and they can’t be used as a weapon like they did in Bourne. One trick I like to use to preserve the softcovers in my backpack is to use hard covers of 3-ring folders to sandwich them. It’s a nifty tool for organization too. Just throwing it out there.

I have bought international editions as well without problems. I ususally get them through abebooks.com, which apparently is in Canada. Ususally the sellers themselves are in the U.S. You might try that one.
