C+ for Fall Trimester...

Hello all!
So it looks like I’m going to wind up with a C+/maaaaybe a B- for fall term in College Level AB Calculus (My school doesn’t do the AP format.)

Math has never been a strong suit of mine, and up until this year, my math grades showed a positive trajectory. I wound up with a straight C in Algebra I freshman year and have since pulled that up to a B+ Advanced Precalculus junior year. I got a 29 on my ACT for math (33 overall), but honestly, math just is not my subject. I’ve never liked it, and I’m going to not get involved with it in any way shape or form as a career (hopefully!)

Ugh! I now have a C+ in the class that I’m working the hardest in! It’s very frustrating and nervewracking especially since I am ED-ing to a top LAC where I have legacy and this one grade might be the thing to just ruin it all. I go to a competitive boarding school, and all my other grades (CL Literature, Spanish IV, Psychology, CL Genetics are A’s/A-'s (and I have a B+ in Genetics.) My ECs are very strong, but I know that senior fall is the most important term. If I’m not doing great, I’m screwed :frowning:

How much will this hurt me at my ED school (Bowdoin) considering everything else is looking good?

Thank you!

Honestly, I think you know the answer. Will one semester’s grade in one course lead to a rejection? No Will it help your application? No

It is best to focus your time and energy on what is in your control. Work hard and try everything you can to get that calc grade up. See you teacher for extra help, get a tutor, use online resources.

Good luck!

I think that a school that is test optional such as Bowdoin might have the vision to look beyond one grade, since your others are strong. Different high school grade very differently and I think Bowdoin is aware of that and will really look at you holistically.
