So I am currently enlisted in the Computer Information Systems major but I have come to realize that it is not a typical associates degree. I am currently enrolled for classes at Bronx Community College and upon checking the pdf info file on CIS on their site, I see that the only college I can really transfer this A.A.S degree to is in SUNY Empire State College. Another thing is that the only specialization options they have for the major are: Computer Programming and Web Development. I went with the computer programming option but I do not intend to be a programmer when I obtain a job. I’m interested more in Network Administration and Database Administration. Maybe even Security. When I brought my concern about the CIS major being an A.A.S degree, he showed me another option that the school has in the same department which is called Business Administration: Computer Programming Option. And as a regular A.S degree, he claims that I’ll have more options. But what I don’t understand is this. What am I supposed to do after transferring with a Business Administration Degree in Computer Programming since it is still a business degree? I seriously am not looking into business management. If I transfer with the business option, and then graduate with a Bach degree, would Network Admin/ Data Admin companies not be in favor of that? Should I continue on with the C.I.S A.A.S and then do really good to go to the only school that has a Bach for CIS?
