CA Public School Students Not Admitted with a D

I’ve heard that you are denied admission to UC schools if you get a D or F their UC required classes. But what if you have done the required 2 years of lab sciences but fail your third unrequires lab science class? Still a problem? Thanks.

Yes. NO D, NO F. In any class.
You need to retake any class with a D or F, and for senior year there is ZERO leeway. No D no F semester or final grade senior year whatsoever in any class.

It does not matter if you meet the minimum UC course requirements, No D’s or F’s in your a-g courses. That said, If you do not repeat an a-g course with the D or F grade, that grade is also used in the UC GPA calculation (10-11th grades) which could heavily impact your chances at a UC. If accepted to a UC, you are given a provisional admission contract which states you need to meet a minimum GPA and have no D’s or F’s Senior year. Many campuses are very strict in enforcing the provisional contract conditions. Take a look at the UCI discussion:

Some Cal States will be more lenient about D’s and F grades, but rule of thumb is do not getting anything lower than a C in the a-g course requirements.
