Cadet Life?

I was wondering if any current or past students of USMA could give me a snap shot of daily life at West Point. More specifically, how regimented are the schedules? I understand that Plebe year is very strict . . . but what about the following 3 years? How much free time do you have? Are there many rules one must follow? Last but not least, what is the school spirit like at USMA?

Well, I graduated a long time ago. Class of 1983. Since then there have been significant revisions to the curriculum. II volunteer to do admissions outreach so I’m somwhat up to date. Cadet life is very structured, there is no getting around that but what I found is that you adapt to this quickly and it becomes your norm. If you would like send me a message and I can send you a powerpoint presentation that describes cadet life in some detail.

I know this thread is stale, but for others who are wondering the same, slides 14 and 15 in this presentation will give you an idea of a Plebe’s day"
