Caffenine pills? More water? Electric shock?

Ok problem! I can't do homework and have a social life b/c I can't stay up past nine o clock. If i stay out w/ my friends past 8;30 or so I get grumpy and if I try to study past nine I fall asleep. I adore sleep and often get 9 or 10 hours a nite but I am still always tired. Any advice? Caffenine pills? More water? Electric shock?

There appears to be time management issues here. You should have no problems getting the homework done, unless for some reason you have a ton of it. What are you doing all afternoon?

How about an interesting combination?

9 a clock? Pfft... I can't get up in the morning if I go to sleep before 12

Eat good healthy food... eggs are good later at night... the pills help me.... lol Electric Shock would probably not help, it might actually make you more tired...

Make sure you don't mix the water and electricity. ;)

try doing homework in the morning.... there would probably be less of a chance of you being tired around 5:30am, depending on what time you sleep at night :P

If you're always tired then you might have a medical issue. It's normal for teenagers to have weird sleep schedules and issues because you're growing, but feeling tired to the point that you can't stay up past 9 could be a sign of something.

Alpha, my afternoon schedule might go something like this:

wait sorry I hit the wrong button
Get home at 3
Ride my horses until 5
Eat change and run of to the game which starts at six
get home at 9
or after i ride I stay home and do my homework

Dukie that's what I was wondering but people just keep saying it normal

There are a lot of things that could be affecting your sleep schedule...diet, thyroid issues, hormones, etc. Ask the doctor?

It might not be something like that though. Maybe you just never got used to staying up late. Did you always sleep early when you were a kid? I had a friend whose parents put her to bed at 7pm every night, up until middle school. I also had a friend whose parents made her stay up till 1am every night to do work. Whatever it is, if you're used to a certain sleep schedule then it'll definitely throw you off if you try to change it. Just train your body to stay up later in gradual increments. Try to keep yourself awake until 10pm for a few weeks, then move up to 10:30. It's not just about having a social life--when you're an adult you will often have to drive home after 9pm, for example, and by that age it becomes harder on your body to change your sleep schedule.

You might have sleep apnea. When my dad was a kid he had sleep apnea and symptoms similar to yours. You should talk to your doctor about having a sleep test done because you should not be sleeping that much and still be tired during the day.

Kaznack, nobody in a traditional school can stick to that sleep schedule.

As long as there are no electrolytes, you're fine. Water is a weak conductor alone.

What time do you get up in the morning? If it's super early, then maybe that is why you are so tired. I agree that a medical workup by your Dr. is a good idea to rule out any medical issues. If you fall asleep doing homework....do you fall asleep early if your not doing homework? If it is only the homework, then you are most probably not understanding the work or words used in the text. Falling asleep is a sign of not understanding your work. Also make sure you are getting proper nutrition. Add a good vitamin pill to your diet and research some other supplements like fish oil, acidophilus and others. Check out all of the above. I hope you find the answer.

Thanks yall. I do have to get up at 6 so that might be something but hearing yalls feedback on getting a opinion from a doctor has convinced me to. I started taking some medicine about a year ago and got sick at the same time and after that I just couldn't get my energy back. I thought once i was off the medication my energy would return but I have been off the medication for six months and I still feel like I need a nap all the time. Thanks

hmm i wonder if ppl shock themselves for fun..like some ppl do drugs

I'm sure most people here have touched a 9-volt battery to their tongue. It feels awesome.
