Anyone here for communications at Cal? I was considering doing business and try to get into Haas, but now I'm reconsidering.

Now I may major in Communications and maybe try to get into a business school at maybe Davis, SD, LA, who knows... But Haas seems too tough for my type.

Anyone out there who's in the same boat as me?

Are you talking about an MBA? because Davis, SD, and LA don’t have undergrad business schools. And, if you are talking about a MBA, why not try out for Haas post-grad?

@flutterfly – really? econ’s not hard? i was thinking about majoring in econ too

@demoz – yes i was talking about an MBA. In Haas post-grad, I saw from one chart that the average age there is 28, and most people already have plenty of business experience.

Is Haas undergrad worth it though? 25% get accepted, and you have to work your tail off… but is it worth it?

At the bottom it says 1089 applicants weren’t even eligible, and of those that were, only 101 were offered admission. Of those eligible, that’s 25%. Of all applicants, that’s about 9% who were offered admission.

my apologies, did not see transfer students asterik

so… you think econ at Cal is doable? and then try to get an mba somewhere else…
Or would you really really push that Haas undergrad intensive competitive program?

so if i go through my first year and turns out i dont think i want business anymore, would it be too hard to change my major and then fulfill all requirements for it in the remaining 3 years?

or even if i do go through with business and get rejected by Haas, I can still major in Econ and then try to get an MBA elsewhere, correct?

go for business for the first 2 semesters, apply for Haas. If you get in, great, and then it’s off to infinity and beyond. If you don’t, then major in econ the remaining 2 years then try to get into a business school elsewhere.

That’s what my 4-year plan is starting to look like…

So… are you advocating a mass com degree? Is it a decent enough major and helpful enough to get into business school after 4 years? Or do business schools even look at majors?
