Cal Day....BAD first impression

i'm not making fun
i'm just responding to his comment
1 inch....plz

once again
i didn't mean to insult
if u read that cal 4 life or whatever's comment
u would understand

Conclusion: dont go to CAL. its simple. First impressions are usually unhelpful, so unless you've spent a lot of time on campus and in the area, then you really can't pass judgments without the risk of being completely wrong.

you judge the girls, as if you are something special. Girls don't sit on collegeconfidential and ramble on about schools and their lack of hot guys, so i'm sick of hearing it from the boys.

If you think Cal's campus is ghetto, then moving to the bay area is a big mistake.

I thought Calday was extremely informative/exciting. I met a lot of really nice/cool people (although I wonder maybe the students were only approachable for this occasion, and maybe much less approachable throughout the year)

I'm glad the experience has shown you all the aspects of Cal that you view as negative. I wish you luck with whatever college decision you make.

DRab:
maybe u r
but every1 else reacted differently
i'm actually pre-med

ilovecalifornia:
i'm not judging girls as if i'm something special....just 'judging' their appearance based on my taste in girls
feel free to judge me

mshetab, honestly and without antagonism on my part, I think you would be happier at UCD.

It doesn't sound like you're stupid (I expect you aren't, if you were admitted), but you don't like academia, judging by your reason for transfering out of IB. Considering Cal is the school that pumps out the most PhDs and generally has that sort of student population... better than even odds you'll be driven up a tree at Cal.

I did, but you did direct it at me for unwarranted reasons. While we don't always get a say, it's best not to tay these things personally (it's over the internet, everything but anonymous, ect).

There are a lot of very intellectually curious people, but you could avoid them if you want, to a great extent. Any of those schools will be fine for pre-med. I'd suggest giving Berkeley another chance, but if you don't want to be here, that's fine, and wherever you end up, good luck.

Pre-med at Cal can be tough, and tougher still if you're uncomfortable. Visit Davis and San Diego; my friend will be going to SD, doing pre-med, because he felt SD would better suit him. Good luck on your college selection.

As a Bay Area resident since birth, I've spent a LOT of time around the Berkeley campus (as, likely, have many others on the forums). Cal Day reassured me of my decision to go to UCLA. To each his own; if Cal doesn't feel right for you, you really shouldn't go to it just for the name recognition. You're going to spend 3-5 years at whichever university you choose, so you don't want to put yourself somewhere you hate just so it looks good on your transcripts for grad. You don't like Cal, so leave it at that and go with Davis...some people enjoyed Cal Day, and that school might be for them. Oh, and at most universities, first year = shared bathrooms. It really doesn't look that bad.

I've got to give Cal props, though: Cal Band great! Their presentation at Cal Day was inspiring to a HS band geek.

What gets me about alot of posters (not necessarily the op) is that they'll post something along the lines of "I hate everything about Cal, the town sucks, it's dirty and unsafe, the dorms are horrible, the people are lame, the classes are crowded, the food is gnarly and I generally can't stand anything even remotely related to Cal. Now convince me to go there." No! You obviously don't like it here, so go somewhere else.

If you're into celebrities mshetab, you might prefer USC's environment to Berkeley's (personally, I think it's a bit lame to post a half dozen pictures of Brad Pitt and female tarts on a myspace site if you're not a under 15, but hey...)

FWIW, I've dated very-good looking women at Cal (my L-T GF was a model.) I've also briefly dated a Davis student that I've met at the Italian theme dorm in Berkeley. A lot of Davis and Mills coeds come to Berkeley to party. You can also go to clubs in SF (20 min from Cal) where there are tons of babes. Not much going on around Davis by comparison.

You need to get out of the Central Valley to broaden your horizons. Peace bro...

On his myspace, he already put:
University Of California-Berkeley
Berkeley,California
Graduated: N/A
Degree: Bachelor's Degree
Major: Neurobiology
Minor: Near Eastern Studies

how lame and ironic

omg you go to mira loma! and you know mena! hahah shes my gurllllllllll...........yea mira loma are crazy kids especially at sci olympiad...so raped at regionals.

whoa...Cal students making lame statements about other posters' religion. last thing i would expect from a student going to a prestigious institute like berkeley...

If you were referring to my post, I was saying lame and ironic b/c of how he bashed the university yet added UCB to his list of schools on myspace.

if you do come here, please joing fiji...

unlimitedx..lol, i wasnt referring to ur post at all. just commenting on cal4life's one

There are plenty of immature students at various prestigious universities, and this is an anonymous online forum, so mor elikely to be idiotic than an actual verbal discussion (and there is little fear of repercussions).

that was BEFORE i went to see it saturday
and now that's chagned.........
how lame and ironic of u to mention it

Bud, your attitude sucks, plain and simple. I stuck up for you earlier in the thread, but now its obvious that you deserve whatever bashing you got.

You definitely don't look like one to contribute positively to the community, nor is your level of diction and response sufficient enough for the competitiveness and maturity of Cal.

So yea, don't submit your SIR to Cal. If you do, I would be glad and happy to seek you out and give you a fine taste of my mind. You will get to meet my aquaintance and fist daily...plus you'll have to deal with my 40+ % asian buddies in neurobio, lol! A perfect setting for telling them of their insufficient manhoods!
