Cal day!

Although I have already made up my mind that if I am given the opportunity to choose whether to attend Cal or UCLA, I would choose UCLA (maybe). But, anyone who has visited the Berkeley campus knows it's a very beautiful place with creeks running through it, tall green trees, and amazing architecture. Actually, it was the asthetics of the campus that captured my interest in the school, way before I discovered that Cal was the #1 public university. But it's been I while since I've visited the Bay area, and that vision of a beautiful enchanted oasis has begun to fade and has been tarnished by rumors of how miserable the students there are. So, I was thinking maybe another visit is in order before I settle on a final decision. Like... CAL DAY! I was wondering if anyone else who was considering UCB was planning on going this year or has gone a previous year? Although I have visited the campus a handful of times I have never been in the libraries, walked through the classrooms at L&S or CNR, or been to the top of the Campanile. I figured Cal Day would give me one last chance for these experiences before I decide I'd rather be a Bruin than a Bear.

I’m planning to go to Cal Day…even though I live in the bay area =)

Another thing to consider…in addition to the actual campus itself, check out the surrounding area. One of the reasons I lean toward UCLA is because the surrounding area of UCLA is so much nicer than Berkeley.

Okay, I’m definitely going to Cal Day. I can’t wait. From the video on their site, it seems like a pretty culturally/ethnically/spiritually-infused day.

I highly recommend going to the top of the Campanile…I don’t know how you could turn down Berkeley (if you were accepted) after that. I was shocked by the view; it’s spectacular. The library is also amazing. (Can’t remember what it’s called though, but it’s massive).

Yeah, the surrounding area isn’t all that amazing, but the food places are great, you won’t find anything like Telegraph at UCLA, and the history at Berkeley is rich and interesting…as I’m sure you know.

Anyway, def go to Cal Day! I think it’ll be a blast.

I don’t want to get my hopes up. Already, I’ve stopped appreciating the thought of getting into other schools. Cal Day would only make it worse.

i went to cal day a couple of years ago but unfortunately i didn’t really do much or care about it at all, and though i don’t think i’ll get in, i’m definitely going to be a lot more enthusiastic on the hope that there’s a chance they’ll accept when i go this year with my sister who’ll be applying from high school :]
