Who wants to go to Berkeley and has actually visited the place before?

So yesterday I actually went and visited the school and walked around for awhile. That place is amazing. I did apply and now want to go there more than ever. The tower people said it cost 2 bucks to go to the top but free for berkeley students so I just told her I will wait till next fall to go up to the top :-) April 30th hurry the fnck up!!!!

ive been thee I LOVE IT its so amazing, i really really really hope i get in.

Sather Tower is amazing. I think it’s more than worth the 2$. I love Berkeley. There’s nowhere else I’d rather go. The environment, energy, people, tradition, culture - it’s seriously unparalleled.

CAL campus is amazing?

i really need to check out berkeley…just at ucla today, felt the same way you guys feel about cal

No way, other Evan! I was there yesterday!

I have NEVER been there, but I’d love to go! I’m hoping to go to Cal Day - is that a good idea? I’m not sure if I’d rather see the campus on Cal Day or on a normal school day. I’ll have to see…recommendations?

I actually didnt really like it…and I also dont like the area but to each his own.

UCLA campus is much better than CAL’s. There’s homeless wandering around, and the CAL campus is pretty dirty. Crowded streets, but some parts are nice.

Cal’s campus is the best college campus in California, bar none.

I go to concerts at their Greek theatre every so often and have strolled around.

Cal’s campus is pretty nice. Telegraph st. on the other hand…

That said, I had a hell of a lot of fun hanging out there as a gutter-punk in my early 20s (mid-nineties). That whole side of Berkeley is fun.

Berkeley is awesome. I go party there every now and then. The other day I went to the CAL bar with a friend during a big basketball game. It was packed. Everyone assumed I was a student there, and for a few hours i became one, cheering and drinking with everyone. Felt like home… really hope I get in.

hahah OTHER EVAN what did you think of the campus?

I visited twice, and fell in love with the place. I’d like to visit LA as well sometime.

I just went to Berkeley for spring break (visiting friends who go there) and the school is wonderful! It’s nice and spacious and has some really cool and random places on campus. Of course when I visited, hardly anyone was there, but still I had a positive experience. Personally, I don’t want to go there, but I would recommend it to people :)

Oh and if you do visit and stay the day, head up to the Big C! It’s a bit of a hike, but the view (and sunset!) is SOOO worth it! :D

I’ve been to Berkeley several times even went to a freshman orientation when I was on campus one time. I’ve never been to UCLA but I want to go there…

@ Those who despise the homeless: Are the homeless people really that bad guys?! lol. I mean I thought they were hilarious when I visited. Honestly I do like Cal’s campus. I think the buildings are incredible, the football stadium is insane, and honestly I don’t think it’s grungy. Telegraph…yeah it is, but that doesn’t bother me. I’ve lived just south of SF my entire life.

The Cal campus is gorgeous, and worthy of a campus tour to get to know it and the buildings more intimately. The views from the Campanile (Sather Tower) breathtaking. The sound of the carillon emanating from the tower each hour during the day is amazing.

UCLA’s campus, likewise, is gorgeous, with incredible architecture. The restoration of Royce Hall is perfect, and it’s always a thrill to walk down the Janss steps as the sun starts to set.

Re: the homeless – the Berkeley campus police are outstanding, and the homeless are generally very well behaved and in some cases interestingly unique. No need to fear them – mostly off campus. In my opinion, the homeless in Westwood Village rival those in Berkeley, but lately in a more negative, aggressive way. Another part of the Reagan legacy, quite ironic, too, in that the new hospital and emergency center is named after him.

i like the campus. i went there for cal band day like 5 years ago. i got to play my instrument on the field!
