I have a question how SMC submit their students' GPA verification form for cal grant?

I asked one person of our school's finanaid office for this, and she said that I have to ask to each university that I applyed about what methods they use for cal grant gpa verification form.
However, I don't understand what that means because I think that financial aid office of my current school should know about this.

Does any smc students in here know well that do they automatically submit? ot should I have to send gpa verification form in person?

Thanks mikei !
so the only thing that I should do is to file fafsa, right?
,but I just wonder how smc will know they automatically should submit my gpa form? because ,in fafsa, I only put list of schools that I applyed for transfer and didn’t put current school’s name in anywhere of fafsa.

and…how long did you take until webgrants got your gpa verification form after submitting fafsa? because a few days left for deadline of cal grant, I’m little worrying.

Just to clarify, the deadline is March 2nd!
This might be a stupid question, but does SMC automatically electronically update every eligible students’ GPAs? I tried calling them last week, but the girl that I was talking to basically had no idea what a Cal Grant was and kept talking about my transcript instead.
I tried accessing the website, but for some reason it did not work so I guess I’ll have to call SMC again to confirm that they really did submit it.
Does anyone know when they electronically submit them? and will it show up automatically on the website?
I know I’m asking a lot of questions but the whole financial aid thing confuses me! Thanks! :)

The website states system is down for maintenance gee… a few days before the deadline, really intelligent but I guess the person who runs the site in on furlough lol

Seems so dumb to just assume your school will do it for you. I could have sworn that I read that you have to go to your school and ASK them to send it for you.

I cant make an account !! I just found out I can get cal grant B for community college but I can’t make an account I tried a few days ago too what wrong with the site !!!

“There are two types of Cal Grant B awards: Entitlement and Competitive. There is also a Cal Grant B award for students transferring from a California Community College to a four-year college.”

“If you receive a Cal Grant B, you can use your $1,551 living allowance to help pay for books and other community college costs. (If you do, however, keep in mind that you’ll be using up Cal Grant eligibility that you may instead want to save if you’re planning to transfer to a four-year college.)”

but your post says “for students transferring from a California Community College to a four-year college.” does this mean only for the 2nd year ? i’m confused…on my FAFSA I only chose a community college and I got an email from CAL grant to sign in or whatever.

Ok i might be mistaken, from the same site.

“If you receive a Cal Grant B, you can use your $1,551 living allowance to help pay for books and other community college costs. (If you do, however, keep in mind that youll be using up Cal Grant eligibility that you may instead want to save if youre planning to transfer to a four-year college.)”

It looks as though if you plan to transfer you might be better off not receiving it although you have the option of getting the grant during community college.

it also says

“If you didnt receive a Cal Grant for community college, you may qualify for a Cal Grant Transfer Entitlement award to attend a four-year college.”
