Cal Grant Help, Please?

So I'll be transferring after this semester, to either one of the three following schools UCLA UCB or USC(i have yet to find my decision for this school).

However, in my cal grant online account, I'm able to see that I am eligible for Cal grant, and it lists the school of attendance for the next school year as USC. I'm trying to change this to Berkeley, so that Berkeley can get my information(they didn't include the cal grant in my financial aid), every time i try to change the school online it says I can't and to call a number 1-866 number. I do and it says they take calls from 1-4pm. I've tried calling eastern time, western time, different times, different days and everytime I try I get the exact same message! A voicemail which doesn't allow messages. I can't get hold of an operator...or service. HOW am I suppose to notify them to switch my school information, if it's impossible online and on the phone?

Has anyone had trouble with contacting them and found a solution? If so HOW!??? it's driving me nuts, because if I do end up getting cal grant for berkeley(and the amount is substantial) that would essentially be the deciding factor of whether or not I attend.

Good luck to you! Good ol’ snail mail may work. Send one over the weekend telling them your explanation, contact info, and your plan. If possible, ask them to contact you by phone to settle it so that you can communicate clearer.

i have the same problem as you about the placement of cal grant. But I was able to call them after a long period of waitting of course. And i am a transfering renewal student btw (for high schooler may be different). So they told me that for me, I have to wait until June to change the school.

There is no reason to change it until you have made a decision. I assume you senta FAFSA by deadline to all three schools and you already know you are eligible for Cal grants. Great!

Make a decision. After this, go to the Cal Grant website, and submit a Change of Schools online. A few days later, your school will be officially changed from USC to UCB. Voila!

You can also try to e-mail studentsupport@csac.ca.gov they have a 24 hour turn around. The same people that answer the phones in the evening are working correspondence e-mails and such in the mornings. After the budget cuts they cut the staff and split up their workload days.

They used to be an all day call center. Sign of the times.
